Agnès, captain of the Musketeer Knights
The Musketeer Knights are a corps of Tristain consisting of female non-mages. It is led by Agnès Chevalier de Milan. Unlike the Dragon Knights, the Griffin Knights, the Manticore Knights, and the Ondine Knights, it consists only of women and commoners. As their name suggests, their primary weapons are firearms, including flintlock muskets, pistols, and black powder grenades, though they also carry double-edged longswords.
History[]
The Musketeers were created following the Invasion of Tristain and Battle of Tarbes because Henrietta was unsure of the loyalties of the nobles who served in the Royal Knights units[1]. With people like Richmond who were suspected of working with Reconquista, Cromwell sympathizers could have infiltrated the very groups that the Tristainian crown relies on for protection.
Motivation[]
An all-female commoner unit divorced from the traditional Royal Guard power structure has advantages for Henrietta, who doesn't trust the nobility of her own country to protect her. The commoner women of the Musketeers would have had no way to advance in station aside from the royal favor extended by Henrietta. If she was removed from power, they would be out of a job and position as the royal guard, preventing most corruption in the average rank-and-file as the pressure to protect Henrietta looms.
