Magical items (マジックアイテム) are objects imbued with magic to induce various effects.
Wands[]
- Main article: Wands and Staffs
The most important tools for the nobles in Halkeginia as it is what they cast magic with. Most nobles carry a wand, though some mages prefer to use a staff instead. Others still, especially in martial profession, use swords to cast spells. Without wands, mages cannot cast magic.[1]
Only the mage using it can know if they are compatible with their staff or wand. Over a period of a few days, they will then attempt to form a pact with it: they hold it in their hand, chanting spells and prayers over and over again. Most will fail a few times when selecting their staff or wand, but soon enough it will begin to feel like a part of their body once they find the right one. Once they find one they are compatible with, they can then form a contract and it becomes a life long companion for them. Sometimes however, a mage will search out a specific or different wand or staff due to preference or ease of use.[2]
Potions[]
Refers to magical potions. Includes various types such as love potions and sleeping potions created by Montmorency. It should be noted that love potions are illegal in Tristain.[3]
A Love Potion is a forbidden potion, it is used to make somebody fall in love with you. The love potion can be copied by a kiss on the lips. The limit of how long it lasts can be changed for example 1 day, 1 hour, 1 year, 6 months, etc. The antidote is the Water Spirit's tears (水の精霊の涙), a special medicine made from the tears of the water spirit of Lagdorian Lake.[4]

The Ring of Andvari
The Ring of Andvari (アンドバリの指輪) allows the wearer to compel other human beings, possibly without the victims even being aware of it. This ring belonged to the Water Spirit of Lagdorian Lake. Although, it was stolen from her. The ring seems to be able to bring the dead back. If resurrected, the body will be controlled by an ancient spirit as said in the show. It seems that when someone is "brought back" by the Ring, they are tools of the wielder. In addition, the Ring seems to possess some offensive abilities as well.
Tristain soldiers under the influence of the Ring.
Known offensive uses of the Ring are as follows:
- When Louise was controlled by Cromwell in Albion (Note: This is also the only known occasion in which someone has managed to break free of the Ring's influence).
- When Cromwell forced Kirche and Tabitha to bow down to him.
- When Sheffield had retrieved the ring and murdered Cromwell with it while he was in jail. (Note: This is the only known occasion in which someone was murdered from the ring. The death was caused most likely by energy draining as Cromwell's face was really flat and skinny when the guards saw him.)
- When Sheffield used the Ring to take control of about one third of Tristain's army in Saxe Gotha.
It is also probable that Cromwell and later Sheffield controlled Albion using this Ring, although the soldiers and politicians do not seem to be aware that they are being controlled. Sheffield used the ring to contaminate the water supply and put a spell on all who drank it to kill the Queen.
Intelligent Swords[]
An Intelligent Sword (インテリジェンス・ソード) is a magical sword imbued with sentience and capable of speech. A tool becoming magical and imbued with a will is not that uncommon. Since intelligent tools don't have a lifespan, once they become imbued with a will, it is a constant battle against boredom.[6] Making swords sentient is usually an Elven practice.[7]
A variant known as Intelligent Knife (インテリジェンス・ナイフ) also exists.[6]
