The Duchess de Orléans is the wife of Charles, Duke de Orléans and the mother of Charlotte and Josette, Queens of Gallia. After the death of her husband, she drank a potion that caused her to go mad, all so she could keep Charlotte from drinking it: she had realized that her brother-in-law Joseph was secretly trying to kill Charlotte, so she decided to protect her.
After the death of Joseph, she was given an antidote that cured her of her condition.
