D'Angleterre (ダングルテール) is a coastal region in the southwest of Tristain.

Geography[]

History[]

Several hundred years ago, the area was settled by Albionian settlers. As a result of their origin, this region often acted in opposition to the crown. One hundred years ago, a Romalian religious leader began preaching his religion and swiftly gained popularity among the independent people, which heightened tensions with the crown of Tristain. Twenty years before the events of the series, the people of D'Angleterre forced the Tristainian Government to recognize their independence, building a new temple for the religion.[1]

It was then that Agnès, 3 years old at the time, found a young woman, Vittoria, washed ashore, holding the Fire Ruby. She was cared back to health by the folk of Agnès' village. A month after she arrived, a Tristainian squad, dubbed the Magical Research Experimental Group, led by Colbert arrived in Agnès' village, and burnt it down as a response to Vittoria's presence, whom was a Protestant. Vittoria was killed in a blaze of flame after hiding away Agnès, who was hauled out of the village by Colbert.[1]

The incident, which was decreed as a part of the New Religion Hunt, was labeled as an operation to eliminate contagious diseases.[1] Its true purpose was the eradication of dissenters and Protestant Heretics. Richemont was revealed to have been responsible for ordering the massacre for a bribe from Romalia, for which Agnès took revenge by killing him.[2]
